Kaleido wraps up two weeks of school holiday programs across Tasmania

JCP Youth has thanked the young people, volunteers, staff and wider community behind two weeks of Kaleido school holiday programs across Tasmania.

Two weeks of Kaleido school holiday programs have come to a close across Tasmania, with JCP Youth celebrating the young people and the many people who helped make the programs possible.

The programs finished on 24 July after what the organisation described as a huge fortnight for its team. Its closing message thanked volunteers, staff and, most of all, the young people who took part.

The community behind the camps

Kaleido provided residential camp programs for young people across the state during the school holidays. Behind those programs was a wider network of people whose contributions were recognised in JCP Youth’s end-of-holidays message.

The thank-you extended to campsites, cooks, cleaners, bus drivers and neighbours. It also offered a glimpse of the sounds that accompanied the fortnight, with a light-hearted nod to repeated “POPSICLES” songs and calls of “Yo Yo, Kaleido”.

Those acknowledgements put the work of the staff and volunteers alongside the contribution of the people who helped host, feed and transport participants throughout the programs.

Recognition at the Northern Kaleido Camp

Earlier in the week, JCP Youth Board Director Michael Phillips and his wife Jo visited the Northern Kaleido Camp. In its 22 July update, JCP Youth welcomed the opportunity for the staff and volunteer team’s efforts to be recognised during the visit.

The organisation credited that team with making the residential camps possible across Tasmania.

JCP Youth CEO Will Smith also reflected on visiting the programs. In a comment on the closing announcement, he wrote: “Absolutely favourite part of my week was dropping into these programs.”

More Kaleido to come

The end of the school holiday fortnight is one stopping point in Kaleido’s calendar. JCP Youth’s closing message looked ahead to more programs, camps and activities in the coming months.

For now, its message was a thank-you to everyone involved in the two weeks, from the young people at the centre of the programs to the teams and communities around them.
