School holidays can be a chance to explore something new, spend time with other children and find a place to belong. JCP Youth’s Kaleido Camps bring those opportunities together with mentorship and support.
Designed for Tasmanian children aged 8–12, Kaleido offers tailored respite and mentorship-based holiday programs. The camps focus on meaningful experiences, connection and opportunities for growth in a safe, enjoyable and supportive setting.
Experiences with support around them
Kaleido’s approach combines opportunities to explore with the understanding and support of mentors. The aim is to help children build resilience and a sense of belonging, while taking part in experiences they may not otherwise have access to.
A safe, fun and predictable camp environment is part of that approach. Kaleido is designed to provide steady support through the holidays and help children return to school feeling supported and ready to learn.
Finding the right fit
Every child brings their own experiences and needs. Kaleido has referral criteria to help families and people supporting children understand whether the camp setting may be suitable.
Priority referrals are given to children who are struggling with school engagement, facing difficult life experiences or have limited support around them. The criteria also recognise that financial challenges can restrict a family’s access to typical school holiday activities.
Children should be able to engage in a safe, enjoyable group environment and gain value from spending time with other young people. A conversation with the Kaleido Camps team can help families talk through their questions.
Start with the information families need
The program page brings together the participant and family guide, referral criteria and camp coordinator’s contact details. Families should confirm upcoming dates and current information with the team before making arrangements.
