JCP Youth has marked the close of Child Protection Week by recognising the people and services working together to support Tasmania’s young people—and the need for that commitment to continue throughout the year.
During the week, JCP Youth connected with hundreds of young people through hundreds of engagements across the state. The team delivered programs, took to stages and celebrated achievements, bringing its work into a range of settings and conversations.
The organisation’s reflection also looked beyond its own activities. It acknowledged the wider network of people who support, protect and advocate for young people, and the collaboration that helps make that work possible.
Recognising the people who keep showing up
Child Protection Week provided an opportunity to recognise both young people who need support and those who continue to stand alongside them. JCP Youth thanked others across the sector for their commitment and shared purpose, while acknowledging the demands of the work.
“This is not easy work, and good outcomes are rarely achieved alone.”
In that message, JCP Youth recognised the collaboration and shared purpose across the sector. Its acknowledgement extended to every young person needing support and every person continuing to show up for them.
Support beyond a single week
The Child Protection Week reflection brought these wider commitments back to a simple point: protecting young people is ongoing work. Celebrating achievements and recognising the contributions of others are part of that effort, alongside acknowledging where support is still needed.
JCP Youth’s closing message was clear:
“Protecting young people is everyone’s responsibility, every week of the year.”
