JCP Youth’s August update records 2,374 engagements with young people, 192 youth response incidents and 1,056 adults attending parent seminars, alongside additional programs and staff training.

JCP Youth recorded 2,374 engagements with young people across Tasmania during August, in a month that brought together youth response work, parent seminars, camps, outdoor adventures and ongoing school and community programs.

The month’s activity also included attendance at 192 youth response incidents and parent seminars attended by 1,056 adults. Alongside this work, the organisation supported 13 other organisations and services, trained new staff and developed additional supervision and wellbeing models.

A month of work across the community

The August figures show the range of work taking place across JCP Youth. Engagements with young people sat alongside support for adults through parent seminars, while the team continued its school programs, speaking events and community service projects.

The update reports engagements and incidents attended. It does not give a count of unique young people, so the figures should not be read as the number of different individuals supported.

JCP Youth also delivered 10 additional programs, including camps and outdoor adventures. These were part of a month in which regular programs continued alongside additional opportunities for young people to take part.

Supporting families and other services

The parent seminars drew 1,056 adult attendees during August, adding a focus on parents alongside the organisation’s direct work with young people.

The team also provided additional support to 13 other organisations and services, extending its contribution beyond the delivery of its own programs.

Investing time in the team

August included a substantial focus on training. Three new staff were engaged every day in a training program, while all staff took part in additional training blocks.

JCP Youth also developed additional supervision and wellbeing models during the month. The update records this work alongside the training undertaken by new and existing staff.

Looking towards September

In its end-of-month announcement, JCP Youth described serving young people and the wider Tasmanian community as a privilege. The update closed with a short message looking to the month ahead: “Bring on September.”
